Hey, three weeks ago, I got into a car accident and rear ended someone in the front with suv. I had a honda, and the insurance company declared it totaled and they are going to pay around 9k for the car. Since it was rear-end accident, insurance company held me for 100% at fault. The suv had broken/dented bumper and lower part of trunk lid dented (No broken lights or anything). I would say around few thousand dollars worth of damage. There were 3 people in the car and at the time they said they are all ok, and drove off. No police report was filed. When I called at night to get one of the guy's birthday, he said all three went to emergency, and had whiplash pain in neck area (which is understandable from rear-end accident). I had full coverage so I know my insurance comp. would pay their bills. The thing I am scared about is what if they sue me? I am from low-class family and a full time student on loans so I have no money or even a job. If they do, how much can they sue me for?

Does my dad lose his no claims if I'm added to his car insurance?

I have a query about car insurance. When I passed my test last May, I was told that if I was to have my dad as the main driver, and me as the named driver, and my dad has 9 years or more no claims, then they would have to be reset to 0 years when i am added to the insurance, is this true? if it is, then i'm going to have to stick with the ridiculous insurance quotes... if not, then i've just realised that i could be saving myself 1000! Any opinions appreciated! :)

hi, im really close to taking my driving test, and i will be 19 when i hopefully pass. but i know that i would be unable to afford car insurance just yet! however, i would be hoping to maybe get a car when i am round about 21 or 22, as i will hopefully be in a more of a position to buy and run a car! however i was wondering if you could give me a rough ESTIMATE on how much the insurance would cost! i would be looking at getting a car such as a Nissan Micra, and would more than likely get a 1.0 litre! if you could give me an ESTIMATE on how much it could cost, so i can get a general idea! i know its hard to give an exact price, but lets just say the car is all safe and has been MOT'd and is being parked in a garage! hope you can all help, oh and its for a MALE!

Here is my situation which could possibly affect the the insurance pricing. I just turned 16 and my dad and I are looking at a 2008 Honda Civic EX-L Coupe and Honda Civic EX/LX (not sure model) Sedan. He is worried the insurance will cost more for the 2 door coupe? I am 17 years old. I got into my first accident the other night, just two days shy of having my license for a whole year! Anyways, I rear-ended an SUV with my integra (small car + big car =BAD). The airbags didn't deploy- I was going really slow and didn't get hurt, thank god. However, my car is most likely completely totaled because my car slid under the SUV, causing the hood to crunch up drastically, my radiator is destroyed, and power steering is gone. Sadly, I realize that these accidents are always considered at fault with the person doing the rear-ending, and although it was an accident, I do take full responsibility for it and I'm not being a little butt trying to pin it off on everyone else. Right now, I spend about 150 a month on car insurance for my car. I was wondering what you folks think my premiums might raise by? I've heard quite a few horror stories about Geico and will probably just be better off switching companies after because I guess they like to drop people or raise the premiums so high that they leave so they can keep their initial rates low. Wow run-on sentence; Sorry. Anyways, please help me out. Give me tips, advice, and maybe some other companies worth looking at?

Will it save money to take driving lessons at 17 but not get insurance until 21/22?

I'm nearly 18 now, I've left driving a little late... my family asked me if I wanted to learn to drive at 17 and for some reason I didn't want to, but now I've got uni coming up in September (June now for future readers) I'm wondering if it's worth doing it now. I'd heard from someone that if I start learning at 21 or 22, insurance costs more than if I learn now and have a license for a few years before getting insurance and a car at 22 years, for arguments' sake. Long story short, I received a speeding ticket today. It will be a 2-point ticket. I called my insurance provider and they said yes, my insurance will go up but she couldn't tell me by how much. She also didn't sound like she knew what she was talking about. This is my first moving violation in 8 years, so I was wondering if anyone with High Point had any experience with this so I can weigh my options between pleading guilty and fighting the ticket for a dismissal. NYC is a non plea bargain jurisdiction so plea bargaining is not an option. I am not asking for exact answers, I am asking whether there has been anyone in my position, with a relatively clean record, has experienced an increase in their insurance rate, and if so, if it was a substantial increase.

I just found out I was dropped from my previous health insurance plan from COBRA because I was late making a payment. I thought I was ahead a month so didn't pay in March and found out I wasn't ahead. I tried explaining this to the health insurance company but they said it was too late to do anything about it. I've called multiple health insurance companies to see if they'd cover me but of course being 3 weeks from my due date no one will take me. I also tried to contact my hospital that I will be giving birth at to see if I could go through a financial assistance program but my husband and I make to much. Same issue with Medicaid. My husband and I plan on trying for our 3rd child sometime around August/September. For our first child, we were eligible for Medicaid and for our second we were on Tricare since my husband was deployed. However, right now I'm the only one who is uninsured.
